Quick answer
For collectors and fans of Evangelion who want a high-performance, limited-edition tool, the GodHand GH-SPN-120 Ultimate Nipper (Evangelion Unit-01 Ver.) is the clear choice. For budget-conscious modelers who still need a reliable, precise single-edged nipper, the GodHand GN PNS 135 delivers excellent value.
Performance and Precision
Both nippers are designed for clean, accurate cuts on plastic model kits, but they target different price points. The GH-SPN-120 Ultimate Nipper is a premium double-edged blade known for its ability to make flush cuts with minimal stress on the plastic. The GN PNS 135 uses a single-edged stainless steel blade that also provides sharp, precise cutting, though it may require a bit more care for ultra-flush results on thicker parts.
Design and Collectibility
The GH-SPN-120 Ultimate Nipper Evangelion Unit-01 Ver. is a limited edition with a distinctive color scheme that appeals to fans of the series. Its collectible nature means it may not be available indefinitely. The GN PNS 135 has a more standard, ergonomic design focused purely on function, making it a practical everyday tool without the premium markup.
Trade-offs at a glance
- Budget vs. premium: The GN PNS 135 costs about half the price of the GH-SPN-120, making it accessible for most hobbyists. The GH-SPN-120 commands a premium for its limited-edition design and double-edged performance.
- Collectibility vs. practicality: The GH-SPN-120 Ultimate Nipper Evangelion Unit-01 Ver. is a limited run—once sold out, it may be hard to find. The GN PNS 135 is a standard production model, always available and replaceable. If you want a tool you can use daily without worry, the GN PNS 135 is more practical. If you want a unique piece for your collection, grab the GH-SPN-120 while it lasts.
- Blade type: The GH-SPN-120 uses a double-edged blade for flush cuts; the GN PNS 135 uses a single-edged blade that still provides clean cuts but may require a secondary pass for the smoothest finish on thick gates.
