A straightforward buying guide for the Premium Bandai MG 1/100 Expansion Parts Set for the Gundam Wing EW series, explaining who should buy it and who should skip it.
Quick answer
If you already own the MG Gundam Wing EW kits and want to add the Glory of Losers-specific details, this Premium Bandai expansion set is the official way to do it. If you are starting from scratch, remember you need the base model kits first.
What This Expansion Set Actually Covers
This Premium Bandai release focuses on the Mobile Suit Gundam W EW Series as depicted in the manga "The Glory of Losers." It provides additional parts to modify existing MG 1/100 kits, such as new weapons, shoulder armor, or waist parts. The key limitation is that it is an accessory pack only—no Gundam model is included.
Key Trade-Off: Official vs. Third-Party
Choosing this official Premium Bandai set guarantees perfect fit and material quality for the designated kits. The trade-off is availability and price; as a limited release, it may be harder to find and cost more than third-party resin or plastic conversion parts. Third-party options might offer more dramatic changes but often require extra work like sanding or painting.
Decision Rules for Buying This Expansion Set
- Do you own the base MG Gundam Wing EW kits?: This set adds parts only. You need the main model (e.g., MG Gundam Wing EW) to attach them. If you don't have the base kit, buy that first.
- Do you want the exact Glory of Losers look?: This set includes the specific weapons and armor details from the manga. If accuracy to that source material matters, this is the only official option.
- Is your budget flexible for a limited-run item?: Premium Bandai sets are produced in limited quantities. They can sell out quickly and may command higher aftermarket prices. Decide if you are willing to pay a premium for official parts. Check current stock availability before planning your build.
